While I am happy for the couple, it is disappointing that the Crown Princess did not choose as a spouse one of the many likely princely candidates as a consort. The speculated marriage of the Crown Princess to Prince Nicolas of Greece would have been a particularly interesting marriage had it occurred. It would have been in the tradition of the Scandanavian royal houses to marry each other - and would have put the Oldenburgs on the thrones of Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
Marrying a commoner makes perfect sense, when you remember that the Bernadotte house are usurpers in the first place. The house was founded by a common Frenchy, when the rightful heirs were overthrown, bring them back I say. In the meantime I hope they have a nice time.

We are all commoners...as far as I can see(John Lennon).
It's simply that some people have more wealth down through the generations than others and put it to reasonable good use...but not always.
Does anybody really think it's in the genes???
