"Prince Charles and Kate Middleton"

While I am glad to learn of Her Royal Highness's interest in the arts and visits to Covent Garden, I am utterly sick of the ignorant British media continuing to refer to the Duchess of Cambridge as "Kate Middleton"! There. Is. No. Such. Person. Anymore. Are the idiots who write these headlines unaware that there was a little event at Westminster Abbey on April 29?

It's creeping egalitarianism, sir. They're looking to abolish the oppressive, reactionary, patriarchal custom by which a woman is forced to take her husband's last name, thus finally "liberating" women from the one thing that still "holds them back" without anyone noticing they're doing it.

Ain't modernity grand?

I'm sure that's part of it, but someone suggested on the Facebook page of a royalist friend of mine who was complaining about the same thing that it may have something to do with wanting articles to turn up in Google results, people still being more likely to type "kate middleton" into a search engine than "duchess of cambridge." So there's that "modernity" again...

Good point, sir. I always forget Hanlon's Razor.

A perfect reflection of our almost totally irreverent age.

Glad to know I'm not the only person who has noticed this and been annoyed by it.
