Old King of New Spain
A relatively balanced article in the New York Times argues that the once-popular King Juan Carlos is the same man he's always been, but Spain has changed in ways that are making it difficult for the monarchy. I also do think though that part of the problem with the scandal threatening to engulf Princess Cristina is princesses marrying commoner men who want to continue to have business careers while their wives remain active in the royal family. That doesn't seem to work, especially in Spain, and raises more difficulties than princes marrying non-royal women. But in any case for what it's worth I would like to warn the Spanish people
